Swimming with dolphins rescued from Hurricane Katrina

Paradise Island, Bahamas - Jan, 2011

Celebrating

  • It seems that everyone has "swimming with dolphins" on their list of things to do before they kick the bucket. Well, I did too, and so while my wife Michelle and I were visiting the Bahamas, we took a trip to Dolphin Cay on Paradise Island to experience being in the water with these amazing animals.
  •
  • These were not just any bottlenose dolphins, many of them had been rescued from Gulfport, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina so it had a special meaning for me since I myself rode out that devastating hurricane in Gulfport. We got swim and snorkel with one and even get pushed across the lagoon on a surfboard by one.
  •
  • If you ever get the chance to swim with dolphins, go for it. It is an incredible experience and a worthy bucket list item.
