After a very early morning start
in Norman Oklahoma, we were able to get into position in Nebraska
to witness a strong tornado near the town of Amelia. Visibility
was poor and the prospects of finding a tornadic storm looked
slim but we were able to follow a small inflow band that led us
directly to a huge rotating supercell. The tornado formed in the
rain core but soon moved out of the rain and into better view.
We approached the tornado from the east and at one point we had
to scramble to get out of its way as it began to cross the road.
