12,000 Foot Tandem Skydive

Why Not? The Door Was Open...

50 second freefall on my first ever tandem skydive.

All suited up and ready to go. This was the second time we tried to jump. A couple of months previous, the weather was too bad on our jump day. No weather problems today, the sky was perfect.

They say the clothes make the man....?

Target altitude 12,000 feet... They opened the door and out we went. I was strapped to my instructor, Igor, whose been jumping for 34 years! What a rush!

There was no sensation of falling during the almost 50 seconds of free fall we had, just a great view and 120 mph wind as we reached terminal velocity.

If you've ever thought of doing this... DO IT. The sensation is amazing.

At about 6000 feet, I got the signal to pull the rip cord and we glided back Down to Earth... After doing a few spins of course. I jumped with close friend Peter Klose and my wife Michelle. Going skydiving was actually her birthday present this year.
